About a decade ago, bought a Performance Power (B&Q nasty own brand) 18v circular saw for a couple of quid from a car boot, on the grounds that it might occasionally be usefu. Battery wasn't up to much, no charger with it, but it came in a case with two practically unused blades and did save time on one or two jobs, then sat in a corner. Recently had a use for it again, by which time of course battery was completely dead. Spotted some "brand new in wrapper" 18v Performance Power batteries cheapish on the 'bay, so bought one. Looked identical to the original, BUT it was a subtly different size and would not stay in place or make decent contact. Fortunately, still had the original battery, so took it apart and gutted it, sawed the case off the new one and bingo - all the innards fitted perfectly and it works.
Question is, have PP/B&Q found a neat way to fool people into buying new kit as well as new batteries, or is it just VERY carp quality control?
