Stock is 45 x 45mm.
Which is best? Square or rectangular tenons? It’s for a frame on a tall window type seat with storage, approximately 1,700mm long, 500 wide, 1,000 high.
Round would be interesting but not this time.
TIA.

I'd like to know too as and am planning to make a little steppyplatform for my wee one, I've made the wee steps but have 45x45 sitting around and thought I'd make the fram outta it

Plan is cut square tenons @20mm and centered, 20mm high which was perhaps a little to generous I think I could maybe go 1/2inch all round.

I have no idea is this is how I should do it but its a joint I can do and I know the forces will just have a compression effect on the joints

mind you it only has a tiny bean standing on it. but i plan to also test it with dynamic load by my wifey (45kg) and I (90kg doing a hop on it (sorry to say I my only do it after I see the wife get on ok )
