Does anyone know what soap treatment or soap finish is. (Applied to wood ! ) I have seen it on a chair which says it is oak with a soap treated finish. It appears light and quite matt like untreated ash. Geoff

Yes I saw that and have ordered some Ivory soap bars online.Wondered if anyone else had done it or new any more about the technique. Thanks Geoff

I was looking a few minutes ago about fuming oak and washing with a sugar soap solution was a suggestion for finishing oak. Don't know if that is what that may mean- never done it myself but it was claimed to produce a "nice light brown colour"
