Another Tour-de-force with the carving Hughie, really appreciate the consistency of the spacing and profile.

........ What is the wood ?

Eucalyptus Burl from Tasmania, now how do I know that
Funnily enough I have a darn great lump of it just readied for the lathe but I doubt it will be as well crafted as that little beauty.

to maintain symmetry and form through all those flaky bits

excellent work =D>

REALLY -how or where do you start to do that???? someone please tell me.

love it

And there was me thinking it would be difficult to achieve ;)

Absolutely delightful hollow form - for a long time I have wondered how those spirals are achieved. Now I know, and they are even more impressive as they are hand carved (essentially).
