Hi I was just wondering what sealents others are using for bedding and sealing double glazed units?

The sealent needs to be over paintable as the clients will eventually have to re paint the windows?

Thanks
Matt

Are you meaning the seal between double glazing and rebate / timber glazing bead?

The silicone used to seal in the double glazing should be low modulus silicone, or neutral cure.

If there is sealant needed between beading and sash rebate or a small visible sealant bead where glass meets the beading, which may be overpainted at some time, I would use either MS polymer which is an over paintable silicone or repair care dryseal glazing sealant.

I use butyl tape between frame and DG unit, low modules neutral cure silicone round edge of unit (make sure it says suitable for use round DG units because a lot are not), and then butyl tape again between unit and glazing bead. Think this is standard practise but someone may tell me different?
