Hey all

I need to fit a cabinet in between two other kitchen cabinets. I know both existing cabinets are not dead straight and they are also not parallel to each other. Only a few mm here and there mind.

I have made an MFC cabinet to go between and I plan on putting a face frame on it. The question then becomes how do I scribe the face frame in on both sides? I can make it slightly oversize and back bevel the sides but I cant get it in there to scribe it up until the other side is done. Catch 22.

This is only our temporary kitchen but I plan on using this as experience for future projects. I'm sure there must be a best way to tackle this.

Many thanks

cut a board of mdf 20mm narrower than the space.

Fix this in position, set back from the face slightly. You may need to use a couple of battens up the sides of your existing cabinets to fix it to.

Cut 2 strips of thin mdf / card / correx protection board about 100mm wide.

fix them about 10mm or so back from the edges you want to scribe to.
mark your scribe using a small block and pencil, or your preferred way for scribe marking
take off the strips, cut the scribe, then put them back so they butt up to the cupboards, when you are happy with the position, mark the inner edge of the scribe strip at top and bottom. Take off the board, transfer these lines to the back, fix on your strips on the back and lay this onto your front frame, you now have the exact dimension to cut to.
