Am trying to help a friend out and he needs to get best money for this 3ph Dominion combi .....
It would be a real shame to scrap it but is there a market out there for this sort of dinosaur ?
Guess it weighs a fair bit

I restored one of these around 25 years ago for my father. It is stiil going strong. A fantastic machine.
At the time I restored it we tracked down the company who had bought out Dominion. They offered us serious money for it as they were refurbishing them. Sorry I can't remember any other details but it could be worth a little detective work.

Andy , what value does you mate put on it ? against the scrap value ,

looks like it would need a specialist removal company to shift and install it

Most of us hobby people don't have 3 phase and a inverter would bump the price up

I've got the baby brother of this one, weighing in at a mere 400 lbs - as we pre-decimal children say - and It's great. The 'RAS' is a ball bearing slide, the planer is inches thick cast iron, everything is simple to get at, simple to fettle.

Keep it and do it up!!

Dalton's MIGHT have a manual, but I doubt it...I DO have a manual in full colour black, white and green, if anybody wants a scan/photocopy.

Cheers folks, have no fear if I had the place for it there would be no need to look for other options, but alas there's only so much you can fit in and around a 3 bed semi

Hang on, just remembered I have the old Buck&Hickman machines catalogue
Back soon.....

Not listed in B&H but a similar smaller one weighs in at 10cwt....
James pity you can't remember the company offering good money to refurbish but dare say today they would not be interested when you take into account H&S legislation :(
You tempted then Blister ? If we can find the weight then a better idea of scrap value will prevail....
When you get it started up it really has that sound of "feed me anything I can handle it"
Apart from James I wonder how many are left in service?

A quick google pulls up Wadkin which rings true from memory.

Why not give them a call. That much cast iron just isn't made these days I know for a fact that I will do everything I can to hold onto dads machine

Had a look at works plate today and its a "Super Elliot"....

Andy

Only info' I can find on a 'Super-Elliots' price is from 2006, £950 reconditioned. Have a look here, might be worth trying to get in contact with them though, if they can't help then they might know of a third party that will?

Good luck with it. _Dan.

Hi
Scrap cast iron these days is making around £100 per ton, but i should think it would cost you that to get someone to transport it to the scrappy. Unless he would collect it for free. But PLEASE DONT SCRAP IT! Machines like that are making good money on e-bay. wish i had the space for it. It should make at least £300 to £400 on e-bay
