Hiya

As pe r the title, when did SCMS become "a thing"? They appear to be fairly recent, with radial arm saws preceeding them.

Was there a brand that kick-started them (like Skil with the skil saw)?

I have upgraded to vintage machines for most of my tools, but it seems like this isn;t really an option for SCMS.

Thanks

Hitachi C8FB2 possibly.
Hitachi are mentioned as the first to offer one, an 8.5" and in 1988.

I was thinking Elu...? I think I remember seeing an Elu in the early to mid 80's that was a small SCMS......PS174...??.....But I may be wrong with the model number and the date..!
