Hi,

I have a Bosch POF 1100 AE plunge router, and the manual says that the guide bushing is a separate accessory. However, nobody around here has ever seen them and I'm struggling to locate one.

I think they're more commonly known as collars, and in the Bosch online spare parts catalogue it's called a sleeve.

My question is, are they a standard fitting, or proprietary to Bosch? Can I get one from another company and expect it to fit my router?

The irony is that I went to a new hardware shop in town last week, and the new model has one included. I showed it to the guy in the shop, who understood what it was for, but said that noone uses them here and if I wanted on, I'd have to buy the new router! I won't be going back there.

Many thanks,

Jeremy.

Thanks. It's an option, but if I can get hold of the proper collar, I think it would be better as putting another plate on will surely reduce my plunge depth.

I'll keep looking, but bear that in mind.

Edit: Oooh! It looks like I may have found one - on the Axminster site. Dunno how I missed that before. I've emailed to see whether it's the correct one as it doesn't list my router model number. Fingers crossed.

Bosch router guide bushes are particular to Bosch only I am afraid. Only way around this is to fit a Trend unibase and use their bushes.

Axminster do some Bosch guide bushes http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... =1&jump=44 .

However, I also have a Porter-Cable/Flex router that uses threaded guides ( http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axmi ... -33164.htm )and you can get a Bosch adaptor for these http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axmi ... -20346.htm (the second one down on the list).

However, there is a problem with all of the above (at least with my old router) in that there is no adjustment to centre the guide and the bushes were off centre by about .5mm . In the end I bought a Trend Unibase http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Tren ... -23560.htm and a set of the Axminster metal guide bushes http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Tren ... -21601.htm (the bottom of the list) and I have found no problems with these as they can be easily centred.

I just got an email back from Axminster and their brush will fit my router model, so I'm going to give it a go. A 0.5mm error wouldn't really worry me at the moment - far better than my chisel work.

If it really is not much cop, I'll go for a Unibase.

Thanks for the help everyone.
