Good Evening
I seem to remember seeing somewhere a hand powerd rounding plane. It had 2 wood handles and an alloy body, avaliable in a few sizes made somewhere in Britain, mainly used by men with beards in the woods and other rustic types. DOes any one know what I am on about and where I can get them from.

Many thanks

Chris

no dont know
two wooden handles and something you use in the woods would make me think of a draw knife or spokeshave

A hand powered rounding plane sounds like a compass plane, record used to make them not sure if they still do I used to have a record one now have a antique stanley one .

They come up on ebay as do drawknives and spokeshaves

Chris,

Can you give a few more details?

What are you trying to make, 1/2" dia, 2" or what approx size?

Do you just want to cut round tenons on stock or are you making lengths of round stuff?

I have a set of these and have made dowels with them.
