Hi All

Finally bought my Robland NSX Pro combination machine and taking time to set it up and have a play. All going well so far but have now reached the sliding table which needs tweaking in - its being a pain and the destructions are pretty pants.

Don't suppose anyone has the proper set up guide or know how to get it spot on? Its totally different mechanism from the older X31 machines but I daresay the same as their sliding table saws.

Cheers, and a happy new year to you all.

I'm not familiar with setting up that particular machine, but all sliding table combis are the same in that there's a constant debate about the ideal surface height for the aluminium slider relative to the cast iron machine top. The general consensus is that if you primarily use the saw then you want the slider about 0.2mm higher than the top, but if you primarily use the spindle moulder then you want them dead level. It's about trading off between accuracy when spindle moulding tenons versus the friction of cross cutting floppy sheet goods. I've gone for 0.2mm higher, but I tenon with a dedicated tenoning table that raises the workpiece a couple of mill above the machine top.

Nice machine by the way.

Good luck!

Cheers for that Custard.

So far the P/T was dead easy to get spot on - 3 knife tersa block is a country mile better than what i was used to (took all of 10 minutes to change knives which is a nice change).

The main table was again super easy to get spot on.

The height of the slider was a bit out so being brave got that dead on level ....

However getting the angle of the slider dead on is proving just a tiny bit annoying - three 'bolts' each end two of which are eccentric seem to adjust angle, height and distance from main table. I get one bit close but knocks out the other adjustments - getting a little bit cross. Time for a *** and a cuppa.

Once I've learnt it a little I'll do a bit of a review. There's not much online - unlike the felders (yes I know you've got one and yes I am jealous esp right now).
