Today i saw a writing table, older but similar to the one below tucked away at the back of a second hand store, they only want a few pound for it but it needs a lot of work done to it.

The wood side of things i think i can handle, in fact it just needs a bit of sanding and restaining. Actualy a few minor knocks and cared for scratches may even add to the charm of the old but solid piece.

The large leather inlay however is pretty much scuffed beyond recognition and i'd imagine needs replacing. The table is very similar to this....

Has anyone any experience of this? Can you buy inlays seperately?

Thanks for any advice on this, i do a lot of writing yet have never had anything nice to write on so this is a bit of a dream project for me.

Thats great, thanks Colin and HS.

That first link of yours HS even shows how to fit the leather which is very usefull.

Thanks again.
