I had a request for a small stool over the weekend from one of my customers. She didn't mind what wood it was made from only that it should be about 10" high! I had some Oak scraps left around the shop so this was the obvious choice. I started it yesterday afternoon and completed it this afternoon. (Yes, I know, a bit slow for me but the glue had to dry. Anyway here is the completed project with a wax coat on. It felt like I was back in the woodworking shop at school with this one.

I like that, simple and chunky, another fine job that man

I made something similar a few years ago with scraps, had deeper rails but no stretchers (I'm returning to this so if terminology is off, its just cos I'm thick :))

I know what you mean, I made one like that at school.

Well, not quite like that, mine had ventilation gaps around the joints, and the finish wasn't as smooth, and one of the legs was longer than the others, and...... actually it didn't look anything like that.

This is the one I made with my son in a day when he was about 12. It's a replica of one I made at school and still have. He now treasures this and has it in his home. I wonder how many guys on here have made a stool at school?

I still have the one I made 30 years ago at school. My first piece of furniture, my wife uses it at her dressing table. It's a bit rough compared to that one, but you have to start somewhere, eh ?
