I have been offered a 2 and an 8 ...in good condition
and a Stay Set 4 1\2
also been offered a number 1 but apparently no makers name...so i guess worthless

just working out what to offer the man
any ideas of value please?

Steve

Very tricky but the small sizes are normally very collectale, don't wright off the #1 yet, pictures would help.
The stay set 4 1/2 would be my pick. Just make sure it has the two piece cap iron. a very nice innovation. I woul pay about £45 for a decent one.

Like any wheeling and dealing start low begin at £50.00 and work on stayin below £100.00, you're doing him a favour right :). Check the sole of the #8 if you can, bent = lots of boring flattening!

Worth £100 at least, indeterminate amount for the 1. So I'd offer £15 for starters and see if he flinches.

got to be worth at least 140 as we all no tools are not cheap and at 120 its a fair price to pay

4 1/2 = 20
8=50
2=30
That's now I would think.
And with the 1 you could be in for a real score,
Cans price that as I don't know what it is or con.

Goes with out saying check for the usual damage that effects the no 1 and 2,
Thread rods, y lever and the casting isn't cracked ect ect,

The no1 could be a piece from Union or Ohio maby?
Let us know how you get on.

If you intend to pursue your goal of earning money through tool dealing, you might need a little more research, otherwise gold may slip through your fingers...

Not to make money
not to sell

just a collection fetish...that I dont want to pay over the odds for :oops:

as stated the 1 doesn't apparently have a name

all the others are record..I didn't think it worthy of a separate thread :shock:
maybe i should have left the "record" bit out of the subject :(

Steve

Does the no 1 look like this Stanley no2 i have ? There's no name on the casting or the lever cap but stanley is stamped on the iron.
