Can anyone that runs their woodwork related business from home recommend any good home business insurance providers?

I'd recommend NFU's service unreservedly - been with them for motor insurance for 13 years.

I have no experience with their business cover, but they do have local offices though (for claims, etc.), so worst case you can probably talk to someone in person.

Whoever you insure with, if you want more than public liability, expect to have to meet a lot of safety standards, for electrics, dust/fire, chemicals storage etc. and they might want to know about the legality of working in a residential area (if you are). All the safety stuff is important anyway, and there's no point in paying the premium only to have a claim refused when you really need the cover.

You're probably on top of all this - just sayin' in case.

Thats all good advice thank you.

I've spoken to a few different insurers so far and not been happy with their levels of cover or pricing etc.

I'm currently awaiting to hear back from a broker that I found through BIBA.

I want to make sure I have all the correct insurance in place to avoid any potential issues should I need to make a claim (touch wood I never have to).

As you say, the safety stuff is important for my safety not just for insurance so I would be keen to know if there is something I need to improve.

I'll speak to NFU and see what they can offer, thanks for the tip.
