Re fix lipping

I mentioned this in my finishing thread but thought would post here too.

The edge lipping on my veneered chipboard table has separated from the top at one end, for about 2inches. Perhaps predictably, regluing with pva and cramping didn't work as I couldn't get the glue far in, let alone clean the joint.

Are there other options/adhesives I can try? Or does the whole lipping need to be removed, cleaned and reglued? I would not be happy trying that myself as the lipping is otherwise firmly stuck down over its 5ft length.
 
Very runny C.A. glue applied in the opening with a fie nozzle of the type modellers use is all I can think of?
 
Pva through a glue syringe, and putting a 4mm dowel in obliquely from underneath seems to have done it. I wish I'd discovered glue syringes years ago, I only heard about them from reading this forum!
