Afternoon All,

I have a couple of questions for any Scheppach Planer/Thicknesser owners out there. Specifically the Cast Iron table versions. I was wondering what others do for cleaning the slightly ‘ridged’ cast iron tables? I have recently purchased a second hand machine which is in very good condition but the tables need a good clean. There are no signs of rust it just appears to be a build-up of resin/dirt.

If anyone has a picture of what the beds should look like when new or clean it would be appreciated. I tried to give it a good clean with white spirts and an abrasive pad but not sure if that is the best option or not? Would wire wood be more suitable? Then what do to others suggest using to protect the table after they have been cleaned?

The second question I have is in relation to setting the planer blades. I wondered if when using the blade setting guide you typical hold some pressure on the guide while you are turning the planer blade to move the guide from one mark to the next?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Ben
