Priming Iroko

I have to prime some iroko window rebates before glazing with traditional linseed oil putty.
I was thinking of degreasing and then using aluminium primer, any other sugestions?

You might be better off with a good traditional primer. I've used aluminium primer on hardwoods before with little success - it tends to peel off after a while. It's far better for softwoods.
