I have been given a Titan power planer. However I am not sure if the adjustment is accurate. The fixed sole plate looks ok - however! when the adjuster is set to zero the front plate(adjusting plate) is not in a line with the fixed plate. At the end next to the cutter it looks ok but at the front of the plate there appears to be a run of about 2-3mm. This run arrears to be consistent throughout the adjustment range.

sounds like the scale is useless, but at least it is consistent throughout the range. can you adjust it to cut less than 2-3mm, whatever the scale reads when you do so?

The scale is pretty "ballpark" on my Makita planer. I always do a test cut on scrap if it matters. However the cut is square across. So the nose part is co planar to the fixed rear part.
