Hi folks I am thinking of getting a pocket hole jig has anyone got any experience with them and which
Brand would it be the kreg ,the trend or the ujk jig I have never used them be for and don't wont to waste
My money

Cheers Robert

I've got the Kreg K4 Pocket Hole Jig.
Simple and fast to use.
Only downside I can think of is the price of genuine Kreg screws..........fairly expensive.

Hi Nippy

I've also got the Kreg K4 and I find it very useful for jobs where you don't/cant wait for the glue to dry or for reinforcing tricky joints. I'd be absolutely amazed if the UKJ screws weren't fine....they're a pan head screw after all!!

Just make sure you get the appropriate thread design. Hardwoods have a finer thread and MDF, particle board and softwoods have a coarse thread. Also, consult the chart (on Kreg's website) that documents the appropriate screw length given the thicknesses of the pieces you're mating. They publish a simple table that allows you to match the screw length with the material thickness you're working with.

I've got the Kreg K4 it's good. The Kreg K5, just comming out now, is a bit better, but not better enough to replace the K4.

If I didn't have the K4 or it went walkies I'd be having to choose between the K5 and the PC jigs.

You should also take a look at the PortaCable it has some nice twists that the Kreg dosen't.

Thanks for the info bob and rough cut and is hard to set up

It really is a doddle to use Nippy. You adjust the depth of cut using an allen key operated stop collar on the drill bit for which the scale is built into the actual plastic of the jig. So zero faffing with a tape. The angle of the cut is adjusted by raising and lowering the carrier for the drill which is dovetail grooved into the body of the jig. That also has a material thickness scale on it. It really is childs play.

Sounds good bob had a look at the trend jig you can't remove the plastic jig from the house to do it remotely so
Down to the k4 and the ujk
