Hi

Does anyone know what sort of thickness tolerance I should expect on plywood??

The plywood in question is not cabinet grade but is a better quality 1/2 inch WPB B/BB type designed to be seen (as opposed to the rough building stuff which is not!)

Previous batches have varied by approx 1mm in total but the latest batch of 4 sheets has two at 12mm, one at 10mm, and one at 14mm! This is going to create problems as I need to butt the sheets up and so am tempted to send the 2 odd sheets back. To my mind +- 2mm is too much but now I am wondering what the standard thickness tolerances are...

Cheers
Mike

On birch ply I'd expect +/- 1mm. If you're concerned about absolute thickness it is possible to specify "calibrated" plywood (at extra cost) which has been sanded to a pre-set thickness. I believe this is sold for marine/aircraft use but is normally only available in S grade or better (which means Finnish rather than Latvian origin). Perhaps you need to purchase better quality plywood.
