Plastic Centre finder ... query

I have a centre finder made of amber plastic, with one side for square stock and the other for round.
Does anyone know what the wavy edge is for?????

A quick Google suggests it is just to differentiate it from the centre line. Makes sense I suppose? Wouldn't want two straight lines to choose from.

I have the same one and yes it is to stop you from getting confused as to which line to use
