OK, now for a second attempt! The first vanished into the ether of the www!

I have been looking around for ages to try to find a simple and easy method of protecting the foot and blade of my hand planes. I saw the thing that I was looking for in the Axminster catalog, small rare earth magnets. So I lashed out a couple of ££ and got 10. I then cut some white faced hardboard I had for a fibre glassing job and finished up with these.

The side pieces protect the sides of the foot. There's also a slight slot cut into the base so the blade has somewhere to sit unhindered. They work really well.

As an aside, keep some of my plans, etc. on the metal doors in my workshop held by some of the magnets I haven't used yet. When any mated visit I casually ask them for one of the papers and it is quite amusing to see them try to get one of these magnets off of the metal!
