Pine Table finish

Hi all
I'm looking for some advice I'm in the middle of making a pine Kitchen table which will be obviously be having hot plates and cups put on it,
now just in case some body forgets to put a cup or any other thing hot on the table ( place mats and coasters will be set but ) it happens
is there a finish that I could use so I don't end up with cup or mug rings on the finish
