What a mouthful.

Does anyone know of any options for adding a rack and pinion height adjuster to my pillar drills table? Its a big lum of cast iron and is fairly annoying to move...

I'm betting the options are none existant, right? :(

Cheers.

Yep!!

Well - I have never seen a retro fit kit anyway mainly because the table clamp would require some machining / replacement to accomodate the rack so I think it falls into the un-economic camp.

However, you can make things much better if you polish with 600 / 800 grit the pillar (I mounted mine between centers in the lathe) and give it a good coating of silicon spray lube.

Now it drops down and squashes anything below as soon as I slacken the clamp - real improvement :-k

Best of luck,

Simon

A small hydraulic bottle jack and a selection of wood blocks can be useful.

Also works well as a 'economy' router lift in a router table as well I am told although I have never tried it.
