I have a stable door that doesn't close properly at the bottom. I want to take it off and plane a bit off the door. I somehow do not think this is the best thing to do. The door only started misbehaving when the weather changed. I'm thinking that should I shave a bit off and paint the door would it shrink further when it dries up?
Any suggestions as to what to do would be most appreciated

If the wood is getting so wet that it is swelling and causing an issue with shutting it then you would have to get it thoroughly dry before painting it.
Have you checked the hinges to make sure they are fixed securely and not moving?

Thanks and exactly what I thought about ensuring the door dries thoroughly. The hinges were in tact.
