Hi there,
need to repair a pergola.
It is raised off the ground/soil by 2" - More than 15 years old. It is raised by having two metal plates dug into the ground by the sides of the pillars.
I need to replace the pillars and was thinking of putting on bituminous paint at the bottom (about 6")
Is this a good idea or a terrible one?
Also, on the spars above - I'm going to notch the spars in - Rather than put wood treatment on i.m planning on putting bituminous paint on there too.
Thoughts??
