Hi All
I have joined today and I would describe myself as a very keen enthusiast as what I lack in knowledge and experience I make up for in enthusiasm!! I am just starting in the world of tool restoration and have limited this to hand tools so far but I have found myself getting hooked very quickly and this week bought myself an old and very heavy Parkinson number 8 vice and I am hoping to restore it.
The vice was rusted closed but I managed to free it off after some soaking but I have noticed the entire quick release mechanism is missing (first quick release bought so at least I now know what to look for).
I am therefore looking for assistance to make the vice good as I appreciate parts will be like hens teeth. I have looked at a few forums and I see some choose to make good and not replace the quick release and I am open to ideas either way.
I really look forward to any help anyone can give.
