Thanks @Inspector (Pete)... Thats a really good suggestion and I will check how deep I can go without it interfering with the top of the door/opening.

Sorry for the bad qual drawing but I guess I could get away with minimal framework if it was light enough...

Just put the old door on a couple of brackets up above the door slap some felt in it and Bobs your uncle!!
