Firstly, please accept my apologies for not introducing myself as I registered last week and started posting without doing so - though I have been lurking for a couple months as a guest.

I live in Oxford and have been wookworking since August last year. My main interests are in box making and small furniture pieces but I am also keen on tool making. I have just started making a bowsaw and framesaw for myself. I like using hand tools but have a couple small powertools as well, and just today a new bandsaw. I'm a huge fan of Japanese saws (and pull-saws in general) as I find them easier to use and more accurate than western saws. My favorite toolmaker is Veritas - great company.
One of my main goals for this year is to make a kind of mini armoire with hidden compartments and a tiny data safe (fireproof for passports and other important docs) behind one of the doors. I have yet to settle on a design but its going to be a cross between a small chest of drawers and the top part of a traditional bureau - hard to explain so I will post pics of my plans at some point.
I would also love to be able to make my own wooden handplanes but that is for the future once I've owned a few and am more familiar with them (only dabbled with a friends HNT Gordon smoother before and loved it).
My dream tool at this point is the VP-60 variable pitch plane, but its probably a completely unnecessary luxury. Still want one though
