OF1010 variable speed ?

I wonder if anyone can help. I've just received my festool 1010 from their service dept and its a replacement. I've notice that the variable speed control has no decernable increase in speed from 1 up to just under 4 then it picks up to 6. Is this normal because I can't remember my previous router doing this. If anyone has this model I hope you can post a comment it would be very much appreciated.
