I always lock the doors in the garage when I'm working, once got startled by the wife as she burst through the doors so they all know how to signal me now.
Cheers

I used to lock the workshop door for the same reason, having once wrecked an expensive bowl blank due to being startled and catching the uphill bowl gouge wing - the resulting catch was one of my better ones, and caused the bowl to be ripped out of the chuck, damaging it beyond repair.

However, it then occurred to me that locking myself in a workshop full of potentially dangerous machines was not the smartest idea, as if I had a bad accident, no-one would be able to get in to help me.

So now I leave the door unlocked with a "do not disturb" sign hanging on the door handle when I am working on the power tools, and remove the sign if I am using hand tools or having a rest!

Regards

Gary
