Thought the Scottish Good Luck Fairy had blessed me again with this 10" beauty.

Lucky YES but Scottish ??? Simon Barley (apologies I will buy your book, I promise) says over on backsaw net that they didn't make saws and chances are they had an arrangement with one or more of the Sheffield makers.

They did at least stamp it so it puts my saw stamp/back to 1852-1899 when they changed to Sons plural

 That's a first for me linking to wiki page when discussing tools but they were absolutely massive back in the day.

More interesting Mathieson info here

What's £150,939 in 1926, in todays money ??? Millions but how many ?

Anyway back to my saw, Scottish or not it's great. Solid handle with no movement only issue is the teeth and I'll come back to those when I have a bit more experience, re-toothing my 12" tenon at the moment.

That's absolutely brilliant many thanks =D>

I'll use that a lot, apologies in advance to all.

If I'm reading my 1908 Tyzack catalogue correctly (sorry old money before my time)

Tyzack dovetail saw with similar open handle

Best with Heavy Brass back 8",9",10" = 5/- = 5 shillings ? = £26.25

I'm sure Ken Hawley was quoted as saying that with saws, even if it says it wasn't made in Sheffield on the saw, it was.

Irrespective of parentage, it looks like the makings of a very nice dovetail saw.
