just out of interest what was your first turning speed ?? not that I'm going to start turning pieces like that??

Tom

Around 50 to 100 rpm then I just increase it as I turn making sure it is as vibration free as possible.

Basically I turn the lathe down to as low a speed as possible to start then increase carefully.

Best Regards

Steve

O'well thats out for me as my machine;s lowest speed is 500-2000

TOM

Sorry to hear that. I would be a bit reluctant to start at 500. Could be a bit hairy. It's times like this I'm glad I spoilt myself when I bought my Hegner.

Best Regards

Steve
