Been very quiet in my neck of the woods until yesterday....
I decided in the end to go for a purposebuilt workshop from Warwick Buildings and it was delivered yesterday. I had already put down a 12x24 reinforced slab, and yesterday a 7.5 tonne lorry turned up with my shed inside. It came in 4' wide pieces and all the pieces had to carried 50m down the garden.
They took 6 hours to go from nought to this

Should be finished today - roof slates to go on, electrics and finishing touches (I am at work :() and then the power supply should be in by the end of the week.
VERY exciting and I can finally get back to some wood-stuff again. All my machines have been 'serviced' and a couple marked for replacement
Will keep you posted
Cheers Mark

Very nice - Im just putting the finishing touches to my workshop which is a garage although yours will be very spacious.
What are you doing about security for your easily nick-able machines/tools ?
I'm currently trying to work out how to build a new door and include some lockable metal door bars...

Good question about security...
I have the following plans:
1. Location - you cannot get to it without climbing over an 8 foot garden wall without coming through the front gates which are electronically locked. It cannot be seen from the road easily - and the road is the main village street (though no lights at night
2. Alarms - this will have a wireless motion sensor linked into the house main alarm
3. Lights - a large PIR outside
4. Door locks are 5 lever supplied
5. Window bars I will add
Of all of these, I think the locking gates are the best - the lock was £250 I think on top of the electric gate controls and it is bombproof - can withstand 2 tonnes force I believe
Hope that helps
Thanks
Mark

My condensating breeze block hovel has a similar, but narrower, floor plan to yours...I'll be interested to see how you manage long rough pieces to be planed or ripped! DAMHIKT....

I have an 11'x8' bunker opening into a 8'x8' 'carport'-lookalike, with continuous access beyond into a 13'x8' garden/bike/paint/clutter second bunker, (of which maybe 2' is accessible) all of which is on three very different levels! I find the rain blowing into the car port an absolute anal ache and have plans to box it in, but I'd like to see a bit more of what you've got planned before I jump.

Sam, in a VERY sleety and dispiriting Belfast.

Thanks for all your comments
I intend for his to be my workshop for the next 30 years or so - hence spending on quality now
It was dark when I got home yesterday but my wife took these 2 photos

I went down with a torch and it is going to be lovely. Quite a bit f work to inside obviously but I have next week off work so should get quite a bit done then.
The cladding is untreated cedar, roof is Tapco (plastic) tiles - looks like slate, inside is scandinavian softwood
Cheers
Mark

Thanks Matthew but I was at work! - it was the blokes from Warwick Buildings who just had to assemble something which, by my judgement, was very well made in sections and just screwed together and fitted perfectly
