I wouldn't normally draw attention to an ebay listing while it's still live, but I can't understand why none of you has snapped up this little adornment to your home, available now in Collectables>Tools and Hardware>Tools>Carpentry/Woodworking>Planes ....

I know that there are more of these planes around than there are people who want to buy them, and I know that interior designers see things differently, but what bugs me the most about this example is that the seller decided not to just tuck their creation away out of sight in Home Decor>Bookends but also list it in the Collectable Tools section. Do they really think a tool collector will want to buy such a monstrosity or are they just trying to be annoying?

Hopefully it will stay that way then those who know how to use them can buy them cheaply and we all win!

Have to admit that I hate to see good tools ruined, surplus of 'em or not. Apart from anything else, it looks like there are two almost full-length irons in there which could be doing honest service somewhere.

So called 'interior designers' - aargh! May the fleas of a thousand badgers infest their [deleted], and may their arms be too short to scratch... Not that I'm vindictive or anything.

I'm fairly sure that counts as sacrilege...

Tools share the same status as books in my head, as items to be revered and tended and used for their intended purpose. Unless its from Homebase, in which case it can fester in any hell you care to name.

What a waste of shelf space - why not just use two blocks of wood.
I still use some wooden planes that my grandfather owned, mostly the specialist ones like rebate planes or profile planes that have a shaped blade and soleplate - it's so much quicker than getting the router out for small jobs (a pain to sharpen the blades though!)

sacrilege! Andy get the holy water!

soo ugly, and the blade is in the wrong position.

That's really horrible! Wrong in so many ways. The only positive thing is that nobody has bought it, but I think I need to go and lie down for a while...

It would be ideal if you could only get square chalk sticks and you preferred yours round  . Used like a spill plane chalk shaping thingy...

I get me coat....

Cheers, Vann.

Or maybe for sharpening chalk sticks :!: Okay okay, I'm going...
