I need a new blade for my saw.

The one fitted is, I think, a 40 tooth one and when new cut very well. It's now a little dull and I am experiencing a little burning in the cut so it is time for a new blade.

My question is.

Should I go for a Makita one or another make?

I generally use it for sheets, MDF or ply.

So

Should I stick to the 40 tooth or try a 24 tooth one?

Opinions greatly received.

The 24-tooth blade is more for ripping real wood, though it still leaves a surprisingly good finish on MDF.

Incidentally, Wickes sell a 165mm x 20mm 16T blade for about £17 which would be good for someone who only uses their rail saw on real wood very occasionally, and can't justify the price for an official Makita blade.
