A customer has asked for a blanket box to match the kitchen we supplied. I'm concerned about the danger of the lid slamming onto someone's hands or fingers. I've had a look through the Isaac Lord catalogue and they have various mechanisms with adjustable brakes but none of them look long-term reliable enough to me.
Anyone know of anything more suitable? I did think about their gas struts but they are a bit expensive for this application

get the gas struts from B&Q, they do them there now.

THEY ARE PERFECT, and not dear at al

or otherwise from the scrap yard. but the b&Q ones have a nice short travel

Go for the type sold for use on children's toyboxes. Hafele sell them as 372.19.300 , 372.19.100 and 372.19.700
