I got my first wooden plane today.


Having never even seen one in the flesh before, I thought it best to post some pics to get the general opinion.


It's stamped "W.COLLINS" don't know if this is a previous owner or the maker or both.


I've seen Philly's recent video and now can't wait to get started.
There is a bit of a crack at the top behind the blade which you can see in this picture.


It's also looks like it's got an adjustable mouth, although I could be wrong. The screw on the top doesn't want to turn, and I don't want to force it really.
The blade is nicely rounded so will need a bit of work to get it sharp again

Looks to me like a adjustable steel mouth. If the screw on the top won't move I suggest you run a little bit of WD40 around the top and leave overnight, then put an old screwdriver into the slot and tap smartly with a tapometer :D to release the 'stiction'. You then ought to be able to turn the screw to adust the mouth - Rob
