I thought I would share with you my first live edged bowl.

Recently I made a jig for my bowl gouge and this is the first piece I have produced using almost extensively just that tool.

Not sure what wood - could be cherry, but it was finished down to 600 and finished with 3 or 4 coats of Danish oil.

And before you ask how I kept the lichen on - I did it by being INCREDIBLY careful!!!

:D

Thats a fantastic idea. ATM I am trying to make a natural edge bowl from yew. think I have had every problem there is. had to split and glue it again due to big shake. and now the bark has fallen off :(

Thanks chaps!

I wish I could use a bowl saver type tool to separate the bowl and the foot/pedestal to satisfy both camps - some love it, some hate it.

Thanks for the comments - it's really my first proper bowl using my bowl gouge.

:D

I'd be chuffed to bits with that! Agree with guys on the foot though.
