I am surprised you have machined two bee entrance slots into the access bar on the same elevation. Usually they are at 90 degrees to each other to give a short hole (easy to defend) and a long hole (for when hive is very active). What's the reasoning?

I've just switched to langstrothe and also stopped using pitched roofs in favour of flat so that they can be inverted and used as a Super stand when inspecting the brood box.

Nice job on making. I am about to do the same to get 2 spare hives ready for next year.

We live on a small property with about 8 acres, and have an orchard which the bees LOVE
Between the vegies, fruits and nuts - the native bees and honey bees just love to" bee" here.
They are lovely creatures.

Hi, My entrance slots are for summer and i swap in winter, the good thing is the use what's best for your Bees, If you can see i also have a flat roof and the Apex is really for tool storage, plus extra Insulation in winter if we get colder weather.

I have just switched to Langstroth from National. The Langstroths that you buy have those silly finger cut outs. Daft idea. A super full of honey is pretty heavy, especially for lady bee keepers) and I fit heavy duty folding metal handles to the ends of mine instead. Much easier to lift and you wont drop a full super.
