I've used that type of assembly hardware in the past. I've also used the type in link below. Both work well. I've never been able to find in the UK the type you linked to at Lee Valley. In terms of strength I've always found those in the image below more than adequate, and if you purchased from the linked source, at least you would save on the overseas shipping costs, etc, especially if there happens to be a problem. Yes I have also used the bed fitting set as recommended by RJ above. ^
They make it very easy to assemble and disassemble the bed when required.
 
Thanks both. I might order a set as recommended and will likely be happy to use once I've got them in my hands.
 
For bunk beds, I'd go with bed bolts and mortise and tenons.
