I followed Melissa's thread with great interest and was most impressed with what she achieved. I was reminded of her work when I visited a chateau in Normandy whilst I was in the Falaise area in early September. In the museum, they have an exhibition of "masterpieces" which were made by apprentices before being admitted as master craftsmen in one of the guilds, models made by craftsmen to show their designs to potential clients and dolls house furniture. The quality of work is amazing; some of the exhibits shown on the website are only about 6-9 inches tall. The chateau is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
