Mitre lock jointer set-up?

I've had a mitre lock jointer for some time but have never used it.....until today

Oh my, what a cafuffle!

Any tips on set up as I just can't get a nice tight finish. Arg

I am using it on a router table and I'm joining MR MDF. cutter is by trend if any of those make a difference

I think that once set up, keep the piece of mdf that you cut with it and use it for quick setup on that same thickness timber next time
