Hi all

Working with a friend today fitting a kitchen. We were starting to cut down the oak worktops with his tracksaw and I noticed the cuts were not square in the vertical plane. His saw was set to 90 degrees and against the stop but was off by some margin. We adjusted it with the stop so it did cut at 90 but the scale now reads 89 degrees when it's cutting square :? Is there some adjustment so it will read 90 when cutting at 90 or is there something else that can come loose to cause the problem in the first place?

Not my saw and he was wary of taking it all apart to see whats going on but thought someone on here will probably have the answer.

Thanks

I have the older model TS 55 and it has two set screws (one at the front and one at the back) that you can screw in and out to fine tune the bevel without it altering the scale, I presume the newer models would be the same?

Have a search on the Festool Owners Group because there was a common problem on the first of the new models not cutting square, they can undercut -1 degree but didn't have a positive stop at 90 degrees (or something along those lines).

Thanks Doug. Only found one adjustment screw so will have a closer look tomorrow for the second. It definitely messed up the scale though

It also helps to tighten the rear knob first then the front but that's more to do with pressure on the front tweaking the angle rather than the scale being off. The grub screw(s) should see you right there.

Ignore what I said, just looked at my saw and adjusting the screws does move the pointer on the scale, Doh!

I had the old ts55 for years and it was always dead on 90 then upgraded to the ts55r and it never felt as accurate as my old one, mainly because of the newer angle setting. Its easy to lock it slightly out of 90 and like you say it might show 89 when its 90. Treated myself to the Mafell MT55CC last week at the D&M toolshow and so far Im loving it. I cut a lot of melamine and painted panels when fitting kitchens so the scoring function (which I thought was a gimmick when I first saw it) really is useful.
