Having found this

I'm now thinking about building one

I've trawled the net but can only find paid for plans on unfamiliar websites who I don't want to give my card details to**

Can anyone recommend a source of plans or a book on the subject?

I dont know about plans, but it should certainly keep you out of trouble for a long time whilst you make this...

The linked book is good as a source for making Automata but has nothing on Marble machines.

I have been tempted myself but I know I don't have the time. Half of the fun for me is to make it all up from scratch myself, no plans.

This site seems good for info and even software on making wooden cogs/gears http://woodgears.ca/ I also seem to remember there being a marble machine on that site or a site the owner also runs, there maybe plans.
