Just wanted to thank Robbo3 for his help today.
Went up to look at the Draper mini lathe and accessories he had for sale. He was a true gent; knowing I was a newbie to turning he took the time to show me start to finish the process of pen turning, lots of information about wood, sharpening, chisels etc. He let me turn a pen under his watchful eye with lots of hints and tips without any obligation to buy.
Also sorted me out with a few chisels and a roughing gouge to get me started along with a couple of blanks and pen kits that were not advertised!! Then as I was leaving gave me a few small blanks too.
An absolute credit to himself, the forum and turning! If I hadn't been under such time pressure to get home I'd probably still be there
