I am making a project where i need some sort of self closing device for a cabinet door. The hinges im using are kitchen cabinet type hinges and the door needs to close on its own when it has been fully open. Is the anything out there that can do this? size or appearance dosent mater it just needs to self close.

For the 35mm standard, they are quite ubiquitous. They're sold alongside the ordinary types and are interchangeable.
Just ask for self closing kitchen cabinet hinges and specify the type you need (overlay, inset..).

thanks for your reply, is there a certain manufaturer or website that does the self closing hinges, i cant seem to find them anywhere?

They are widely available and easily obtained, even on ebay where there are hundreds for sale, look for soft close hinges and you'll be overwhelmed by choice.

Theres possibly some confusion here. The OP has enquired about about SELF closing not soft closing. The only self closing hinges I've seen are rising butt hinges or internally sprung ones as used on some fire doors. I've not seen kitchen cabinet type self closers, but happy to be informed otherwise.

Aha, I see what you mean. The soft close hinges will close the door once it has got within a few inches of full closure. Self-closing a door from fully open would be an entirely different proposition. Obviously there are solutions for fire doors and the like, but I haven't come across anything for cabinets.

You're right, most were referring to soft closing hinges.
To a certain degree, they are all self closing. Just not from a fully open position.

One way which works with ordinary butt hinges is to set the bottom hinge projecting further out than the top.
This gives two positions where the doors will be stable, one when fully open and one when fully closed. If you restrict the swing so the doors can't reach the wide open stable position, you'll have self closing doors.

If you hold a hardback book vertical so the cover swings free like a door, you can demonstrate this effect to yourself.
