Very sad to see that final news. It was such a good place, the scene of several memorable days out and the source of some excellent timber.

It is sad, and I hope they come back like a Phoenix to a location with more tolerant neighbours.

Every few years I'll hire a big van and drive the length and breadth of the country visiting the thirty or forty timber yards that i've got scribbled in a little black book. Hoping to track down those extra special boards that can totally transform a piece of furniture. Mac Timbers was always a highlight of the trip and I'll miss them.

I heard a hint of a rumour that a possible such place might be somewhere near Henlow, Beds ... anyone know any more ? This would be dangerously close for my wallet !

Hi . Just a quick update. I have spent the last two saterdays helping Mike sort wood in the timber yard. There is some real treasures to be found, so if your looking for some waulnut, or burr elm, or London plane, or anything else for that matter now is the time to get it. Mike will be having another auction to clear the yard in september, so if you want to avoid the buyers premium it would be a good time to get some goodies before it's too late.
Cheers, Richard

I popped in today on the way back from a couple of days out in the south and bought a very nice wide plank of pippy oak and a big chunk of that walnut that was being cut at the last open day.
The pippy oak is for some door panels and the walnut will probably end up as a book matched coffee table.

Pete
