Mac advice sought

I have a son in law who had problems with his emails, I gather I must not open any of his attachments. He is an Apple mac computer.

Can you make sense of this conversation and advise.

Can't speak specifically for that one, but whenever I'm concerned about anything maccy I check out either/both of these sites

and generally can find reassurance from specialists or have posted a question myself and had fairly swift and satisfactory answers...

Ask your son to install the utility from

http://www.clamxav.com/

Once installed select update and also check for updates.

Once all updates are done then run it accross the user account.

It will clean up your problems

dw...if it is Flashback then that was fixed way way back in 2012 by Apple issuing a security patch. This suggests that your son is not bothering to keep his software updated regularly.
